Duke University Press offers a range of support services for journal editors.
Communication
The journals director is the Press’s main liaison for journal editors and will make sure that the appropriate person at the Press addresses your questions.
Annual Reporting
The Press usually provides financial, circulation, and usage reports for each journal annually. If interim reports are needed, contact the journals director.
Renewals
Duke University Press mails four subscription renewal notices annually.
Circulation
Information regarding current and historical circulation is available. Please contact the journals director with your request.
Online Access
Generally, content is available for online viewing one week before an issue's mail date. Our humanities and social science content is hosted at read.dukeupress.edu and our mathematics content is hosted at projecteuclid.org.
Marketing Support
The Press works with each editorial office to create effective marketing strategies tailored to your journal's needs. We depend on our editorial offices to keep us informed in advance of any plans for themed issues, editorial changes at the journal, important academic trends in the fields shaping the journal's direction, and pertinent conferences, panels, events, and other publicity opportunities.
We market Duke University Press publications as journals, themed issues, individual articles, and as part of electronic journal collections. We use a number of strategies to attract new readers, from direct mail campaigns and social media publicity to website development. Please let our journals marketing manager know how we can support your journal.
Publicity
Our publicity department shares news of awards and special events that involve our authors and journals, and we publicize themed issues through our social media channels. Our authors can contribute guest blog posts that connect their scholarly work to current events. If you'd like to learn more about contributing an item of topical interest to our blog, please contact our publicist.

Course Adoption and Direct Marketing
Our digital marketing efforts include email blasts about special issues and course adoption campaigns that encourage faculty members across institutions to adopt special issues and articles in their syllabi. If you know anyone who may be interested in adopting your work in their courses, please let us know so we can provide them with a copy of the article or journal issue.
Conferences
We attend over 60 conferences each year. Visit our conference page to find out if there will be a Duke University Press booth at any conferences you are attending.
Library Marketing
Library subscriptions are crucial to journals' sustainability, and librarians tell us that they value feedback from their faculty and researchers more than any other factor when they make purchasing decisions. If your library does not subscribe to a journal in which you have published, please ask your librarians to consider subscribing.
