Because various environmental crises over the past fifty years have led to a rise of eco-writing that challenges many ideas in ecocriticism, contributors to this special issue explore new methodologies for understanding boundaries between humans, the environment, and nature. The authors investigate cross-border, interdisciplinary ways to address environmental crises of the present and past, such as ecocritical theories about what constitutes “nature” and “naturalness.”
