In this special issue, contributors examine the terms anti-imperialism, anarchism, and abolition, presenting them as interchangeable instead of antagonistic. Arguing that these capacious signs offer us ways of reading the unfolding present and also guide us toward the necessity of direct action, the authors ask, “As charred police precincts are rebuilt in the name of progress, what remains of the unruliness of revolt? Within this time of despair and dreams, how do we keep abolition dangerous?”
