In the wake of Jean-Luc Nancy’s passing, contributors to this special issue consider the French philosopher’s long-term legacy. Expanding Nancy’s thought beyond the scope of his own writings, the authors study the ongoing relevance of ontology in the face of critiques from within the humanities, the concept and practice of life and its potential for repair in a state of pervasive damage, nonanthropocentric ways of looking at the nonhuman and the other-than-human, and the world at large as a philosophical problem in the age of radical world transformation.
