This special issue gathers nine critics from across literary studies to reassess Isobel Armstrong’s important yet neglected work of critical theory, The Radical Aesthetic, twenty-five years after its original publication. The Radical Aesthetic stands as a crucial forerunner of two decades of revived scholarly interest in the aesthetic and the role of feeling in the study of literature. This special issue returns to The Radical Aesthetic to consider how Armstrong’s volume might remain, twenty-¬five years later, a timely intervention into debates about beauty, value, affect, and gender.
