Contributors to this special issue trace histories from around the globe to explore how HIV/AIDS has been shaped by the political economies of neoliberalism and state violence. Through stories that range from the Puerto Rican diaspora to Kuwait, Bengal state to China, and Germany to Philadelphia, the authors examine how the AIDS crisis impacted labor, housing, and carcerality. Additionally, they explore ways to teach the global history of AIDS and examine key questions in writing, preserving, and remembering histories of AIDS activism.
